Don Hunt, associate vice chancellor for Enrollment Management, is leaving 不良研究所 to become senior vice provost for Enrollment Management and Services at North Carolina State University, effective July 1.

Hunt joined 不良研究所 on July 1, 2019, taking charge of Undergraduate Admissions, Financial Aid and Scholarships, Enrollment Management and the Office of the University Registrar. He has also provided high level administrative oversight for outreach and recruitment programs.

He had previously served as associate vice president of Enrollment and Student Services at California State University, Sacramento, since 2015.

His departure comes is in the midst of enrolling new freshmen and transfer students from a record 105,850 applicants, an 11.7 percent increase over the previous year.


Erin Crom has left her position as university registrar to become the director of graduate enrollment management services at the University of Washington. She retired from UC after three years as 不良研究所 registrar and 4陆 years earlier in her career as manager of international student services at UC Irvine. Crom has served as a university registrar for a total of 16 years. David Flores, associate university registrar for curricular operations, is serving as the interim registrar pending a national recruitment.


Vice Chancellor Renetta Garrison Tull of the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion announced the following personnel moves:

  • Lorena Oropeza, professor of history, has been appointed vice chancellor for Academic Diversity on a permanent basis, after serving in an interim capacity since last fall
  • Rachel Jean-Baptiste, associate professor of history, has been named faculty director of the Institute for Diversity, Equity and Advancement, or IDEA; and Vickie Gomez of the Office of Campus Community Relations is serving as IDEA鈥檚 interim program director.
  • Ebony Lewis has joined DEI as the director of special projects, after having served as the executive director of Undergraduate Admissions since 2016.

Undergraduate Education announced two leadership changes coming at summer鈥檚 end:

  • Annaliese Franz, professor of chemistry, will transition out of her role as faculty director of the Undergraduate Research Center. 鈥淔ranz has brought extraordinary energy and focus to the center, which facilitates research opportunities for 不良研究所 undergraduates,鈥 Undergraduate Education declared in an . 鈥The center has grown in scope, influence and impact on campus and systemwide, expanding externally funded projects, philanthropic donations, and research support and opportunities for students.鈥 An internal search for a new faculty director will launch this summer.
  • Dave Furlow, professor of neurobiology, physiology and behavior, will step down from his positions as associate dean, director of the University Honors Program and director of First Year Seminars. He has been 鈥渁 quiet force鈥 since taking on his leadership role in 2015, overseeing the development of the newly-restructured honors program, and doubling and diversifying first-year seminar offerings, according to an . 鈥淔urlow鈥檚 scientific background and simultaneous appreciation for the liberal arts led to innovative programming for both programs, creating true interdisciplinary approaches to solving difficult problems.鈥 An internal search to bring faculty leadership to Undergraduate Education, the University Honors Program and First-Year Seminars will launch this summer.
