Professor Tim Beatty has been elected to a three-year term as president of the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association, or AAEA.
He is a member of the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics, College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, where he focuses on the economics of food, nutrition and health. He is the chair of his department鈥檚 diversity, equity and inclusion committee and a former former vice chair for personnel.
Within the AAEA, he has served as a board member, president of the Econometrics Section, member at large of the Food Safety and Nutrition Section, member of the DEI committee and editor of the American Journal of Agricultural Economics. He is the founding editor of the Journal of the AAEA and represents the AAEA as a board member of the National Bureau of Economic Research.
His three-year term as AAEA president will begin after the AAEA annual meeting, July 23-25, in Washington, D.C.
The Office of Research announced.a new name and new director for Research Compliance and Integrity. It is now the Research Ethics and Compliance Office, and the new director is Alaisha M. Hellman, as of April 13.
The office provide oversight and services to ensure that research conducted at 不良研究所 complies with all applicable policies and regulations. The team offers support to researchers across the campus to raise awareness, provide training and assist with related processes.
Hellman has more than 15 years of experience in research administration, compliance and program management. Before joining 不良研究所, she served in the role of export control officer and conflict of interest coordinator at UC Berkeley, where she created both programs. She also has experience with foreign influence and related compliance concerns, policies and processes.
鈥淗ellman鈥檚 extensive knowledge of research compliance combined with her strong motivation to forge pathways for collaboration, training and outreach offer a great opportunity to elevate the work of the unit,鈥 said Denise Ehlen, associate vice chancellor for Research Administration and Central Services, and interim associate vice chancellor for Innovation and Technology Commercialization.
