Universally-acclaimed stage and screen veteran Len Cariou gives full voice to an idea that he has harbored since his first Broadway season. In this one-man show, Cariou combines his two great loves 鈥 Shakespeare and American Musical Comedy 鈥 into one rich and diverse tapestry with classical soliloquies and sonnets and inventive musical pairings from beloved writers of the Great White Way.
Cariou is a distinguished member of the Theatre Hall of Fame and Tony Award winner for his legendary performance as Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street Offstage, he currently stars as Henry Reagan (Tom Selleck鈥檚 father) on the hit CBS series Blue Bloods. He also recently starred as Cardinal Law in the Oscar-winning movie Spotlight.
At a European conference, theoretical physicist Daniel is set to debate the parity of the universe against the formidable Browen, an attractive physicist. Prior to the debate, they meet in a Swiss train hallway, where each is unable to pass the other due to a series of ridiculous coincidences. Meanwhile in California, Daniel鈥檚 manipulative twin brother makes an unusual proposal to the woman he loves, setting up a parallel showdown between love and logic.

The Tedeschi Trucks Band is an American blues and blues rock group based in Jacksonville, Florida, led by married couple Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks. The 12-member strong band carries a distinguished reputation as one of the premier live bands performing today. Trucks鈥 masterful guitar skills and Tedeschi鈥檚 soaring vocals and bluesy guitar shine but don鈥檛 overpower the breadth of world class musicianship on stage, a testament to the genuine respect within TTB鈥檚 ranks.
Embracing improvisation over convention, and rarely repeating a set list, the genre-defying collective have seemingly endless potential to explore any musical territory-from their own catalog of Grammy-winning originals to Sly & the Family Stone, Miles Davis, George Jones, Joe Cocker or Nina Simone.

Shostakovich String Quartet No. 6 in G Major, op. 101
The musical career of Dmitri Shostakovich (1906鈥1975) mirrored exactly the rise and history of the Soviet Union from 1917 to 1975. He entered the Petrograd Conservatory at the very end of the Tsarist era; he witnessed the Revolution and began his career during Lenin鈥檚 rule; he was nearly purged twice by Stalin; he flourished under Khrushchev and died while Brezhnev was in power. Shostakovich was a survivor and a great composer, and his fear and self-loathing, his courage and experience found their way into his music. As such, Shostakovich is not just the most important composer of string quartets and symphonies from the 1920s to the 1970s; even more, he and his music stand as witnesses to the rise and failures of the Soviet Union, one of the defining events of the 20th century.
Renowned musicologist, author and composer Robert Greenberg provides commentary throughout this concert.

Elpis A world premiere by Artistic Director Amy Seiwert, with live music composed and performed by violist Christen Lien. Lien has constructed a concept album exploring the Greek myth of Elpis. The personification of Hope, Elpis is one of the evils created by Zeus to punish humanity. Because Elpis was the heaviest, most grievous evil, she was ordered to be the last to leave Pandora鈥檚 Box. But soon after Pandora opened the lid and the evils began to fly out, Pandora knew she made a mistake and quickly put the lid back on just when Elpis was trying to leave. In consequence, Elpis became trapped, where she has been imprisoned for thousands of years.
