Quick, get your costumes
Haunting times are just around the corner, so reserve your time to look at costumes now. This Halloween, transform yourself by visiting The Enchanted Cellar, a costume rental service operated by the 不良研究所 Letters and Science鈥檚 Department of Theatre and Dance.
The collection features inspired by 鈥淕ame of Thrones,鈥 鈥淗arry Potter,鈥 鈥淪tar Wars鈥 and 鈥淪tar Trek鈥 characters along with movie stars and superheroes, animated favorites, fairies, and original Steampunk. Many iconic fashion periods are represented too, such as the 1920s, Victorian England and the French Court of Marie Antoinette.
鈥淲e have kits starting at $35 which include all accessories head-to-toe,鈥 said Roxanne Femling, director of the costume shop. 鈥淥r people can make an individual appointment with one of our costume consultants who will make up a kit from our stock and customers can put together their own character. Come have fun with it!鈥
The Enchanted Cellar is located in Room 17 on the lower level of Wright Hall, on campus near the Ann E. Pitzer Center. Although appointments are preferred, walk-in hours are Oct. 24-26 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Oct. 29-31 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday Oct. 27 is by appointment only and must be booked 24 hours in advance.

Soo-Yeon Lyuh, haegeum, and Ellen Ruth Rose, viola, at noon concert
Sister instruments from two traditions, Korean fiddle and viola, come together in a number of splendid new works performed by virtuosic proponents of new music Soo-yeon Lyuh and Ellen Ruth Rose Thursday at noon in the Shinkoskey Noon Concert. Featuring pieces by Jean Ahn, Addie Camsuzou, Josiah Catalan, Lily Chen, Kyle Hovatter, and Fang-Wei Luo.
Concert organizers say is a master of the haegeum, a two-stringed Korean bowed instrument. She possesses not only flawless technique and a full command of the haegeum鈥檚 traditional repertoire, but is also widely recognized for promoting the creation of new pieces for haegeum.

SAYS Open Mic Night is Tuesday
is kicking off the first of the year at the Mondavi Center Tuesday. This is a spectacular gathering that bridges the university and the community. Singers, musicians, poets, and emcees are encouraged to participate. These free events are held every quarter of the school year for students, faculty, staff, and community members. Everyone is welcome.
