Davis Pride crosswalks were among the arts projects funded with the help of city arts grants in the past.

Deadline for applications is Oct. 25

Do you want to bring more art to the City of Davis? Do you have the inspiration but not the funds? You’re in luck. The City of Davis invites you to apply for a 2020 Community Arts grant.

This program provides funds for a wide variety of community-based arts programs and projects that foster excellence, diversity, and vitality in the arts.

Community Arts Grant

Applications are available online or at the City Manager’s Office at City Hall, located at 23 Russell Blvd.

The application deadline for this year's competition is 5 p.m. Oct. 25.

For questions, please call the City Manager’s Office at 530-757-5640.

According to the city, these grants have been awarded since 1973, and winning applicants may receive up to $5,000. In 2018 more than 15 groups received arts grants, including the Davis Shakespeare Festival, which expanded and improved their program, and the Davis Phoenix Coalition, which created temporary rainbow crosswalks to celebrate Pride activities.

Applicants who meet one or more of the following criteria may apply: Davis art groups, organizations and galleries, individual artists and arts educators who live in Davis or the surrounding unincorporated area, or whose primary artistic activity is in Davis, nonprofit organizations or individuals who want to sponsor an art-related program in Davis, and members of the university who are bringing on-campus activities into the community. All projects must take place in the City of Davis.

The Arts Commission welcomes projects of all sizes. A project does not have to be a new activity. Continuing activities will be considered, particularly if the city funding would allow the applicant to expand the event or reach new audiences, and to continue providing a quality program to the community.

Applicants selected for funding may receive up to $5,000, and funded projects must be completed by June 30, 2021.

Applications are available online or at the City Manager’s Office at City Hall, located at 23 Russell Blvd.

The application deadline for this year's competition is 5 p.m. Oct. 25. Late applications will not be accepted.

For questions, please call the City Manager’s Office at 530-757-5640.
