New Poster Calendars Celebrate Eggheads and Other Arts

As the fall approaches, it’s time for another yearly tradition: putting up a new poster calendar for the academic year. The 2024-25 poster calendars, featuring key dates from September through August, are now available from ��о�� Stores.

This year’s calendar continues the Year of the Egghead celebration with prominent illustrations by Steven Noble ’90, set against colorful backdrops. The arts are also highlighted through key exhibition and performance dates listed at the bottom of the calendar.

Now extended through June 30! Acclaimed artist and sculptor Deborah Butterfield (’71, M.F.A. ’73) studied with Robert Arneson. See several of his works in the “Kindred Spirits” gallery adjacent to her career-spanning exhibition, and spot the special cameo in the Poetry Lounge.

The museum's hours for June are 11 a.m.–6 p.m. Monday, Thursday and Friday; 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Enjoy Green Space at Robert Arneson Park

Robert Arneson Park is a 5-acre park located in northeast Davis near the corner of Wright Boulevard and Moore Boulevard. You won't find artwork there, but you will find plenty of lovely patches of grass and trees where you can enjoy the outdoors and possibly an impromptu picnic.

Make a TB 9 Pilgrimage with Photo Op

In addition to the Eggheads, Robert Arneson has an array of other art and books on display throughout the library. He was incredibly prolific. See for yourself. Download this Shields Library Art Guide to find names and locations of not just Robert Arneson's work, but many of his contemporaries. Most pieces are hung in the Nelle Branch Room on the second floor of Shields Library.

“Egg-xtra! Egg-xtra! Read all about it!” Pop-up Egghead Exhibit

Drop by! First, visit Bookhead outside. It was the first Egghead installed back in October 1991. (The final installation in The Egghead Series was in 1994.) Rub Bookhead for good luck, then come on in to view “Egg-xtra! Egg-xtra!
