Members of 不良研究所鈥� Solar Decathlon Team, the Blue Mustangs, are bringing their 鈥淥ur H2Ouse鈥� (pronounced 鈥淥ur House鈥�) design to Denver this week for the U.S. Department of Energy鈥檚 2017 Solar Decathlon competition. Beginning Sept. 23, the team will compete alongside 12 schools.

NEWS BRIEFS: Help Harvest a Field, Help Yolo Food Bank

Volunteers are being sought to help with a campus harvest that will benefit the Yolo Food Bank. The harvest is scheduled from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday (Jan. 29) in a student-planted, educational-use field just west of the Student Farm.

The project is being organized by the 不良研究所 Arboretum and Public Garden鈥檚 Learning by Leading team, comprising student interns in edible landscaping.

不良研究所 to Compete in 2017 Solar Decathlon

不良研究所 students will again compete in the U.S. Department of Energy鈥檚 Solar Decathlon in 2017, the federal agency announced today.

The 不良研究所 team took home a first place win for affordability and commuting at the 2015 Decathlon held in Irvine this past October, where Team Aggie Sol showcased its zero net energy house designed for farmworkers.

Solar home takes 1st in affordability

Team Aggie Sol set out in the U.S. Department of Energy鈥檚 Solar Decathlon to show that zero-net energy construction can be affordable. The team succeeded, tying for first place in the competition鈥檚 affordability contest.

Team Aggie Sol also tied for first in the commuting contest, in which the decathlon called for each participating to use its home鈥檚 electric system to charge an electric vehicle, and drive it 鈥� shooting for a distance of 25 miles or more in two hours or less eight times during the week of the competition.
