Anyone passing through the Quad at 不良研究所 this week would be hard-pressed not to think about the nation鈥檚 service members, thanks to the work of volunteers who tied dozens of yellow ribbons around trees Monday (Nov. 4).

Yellow ribbons have returned to the Quad, signaling the university鈥檚 support for veterans and Veterans Day (Nov. 11).

Some 15 people gathered yesterday (Nov. 6) for a campus tradition that is more than a decade old 鈥� tying yellow ribbons around nearly every tree on the Quad.

The trees on the Quad are wrapped with yellow ribbons this week in a 不良研究所 tradition now 11 years old, honoring servicemembers past and present during the week of Veterans Day.

Ribbons and Events Show Support for Veterans

不良研究所 is continuing to show its support for the growing community of veterans on campus.

This morning (Nov. 4), 18 people volunteered to tie yellow ribbons around the 100-plus trees of the Quad in the traditional symbol of Veterans Day remembrance 鈥� an increase over last year鈥檚 volunteer numbers.

Voting has more benefits than just a feeling of having done your civic duty: That little white "I Voted" sticker is good for a discount at the Aggie Reuse Store and Aggie Surplus. Voters will get 18 percent off at Aggie Reuse and half off any item priced at $25 or more at Aggie Surplus.

For six years we鈥檝e arrived on campus the week of Veterans Day to see all of the 100-plus trees on the Quad adorned with yellow ribbons, put there by our veterans 鈥� students and staff members.

The Davis campus is honoring its military veterans at a reception this afternoon (Nov. 9) and with a yellow-ribbon display on the Quad through Veterans Day this Friday (Nov. 11) and lasting through the weekend.

Today鈥檚 reception, for staff, faculty and student veterans, is scheduled from 4:45 to 6 p.m. in the Aspen Room at the Shared Services Center, 260 Cousteau Place, Suite 150 (free parking). Light refreshments will be served; no RSVPs required,
