CA Primary: Vote on Campus Today

There’s still time to vote in California’s primary election, and you can do so on campus.

A Yolo County voter assistance center is open until 8 p.m. today (March 5) in ballrooms A and B of the Activities and Recreation Center. There voters can drop off completed vote-by-mail ballots, request a new ballot, and even register to vote.

UC has relaunched its get-out-the-vote campaign, while ��о�� is working to bring in the vote — the ballots, that is, in a newly installed, official drop box on the Davis campus.

Ribbon-Cutting Set for Ballot Drop Box

A voter registration drive and ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held Tuesday, April 19, to mark the installation of an official ballot drop box on campus.

The drop box is outside the northeast corner of Hunt Hall, opposite the Memorial Union bus terminal, and will stay there, permanently. The box will be put to use for the first time for the California primary, June 7 (the official drop-off period starts May 9).

Best in Class: Student Voting Rate Grows From 43% to 75.7%

From 43% in the 2016 general election, ��о��’ student voting rate grew by nearly 33 percentage points four years later — a gain that earned the Aggies a Best of Class Campus Award in the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge.

Updated: Voting Underway in Memorial Union

Updated 1:45 p.m. March 3 to clarify registered voters should vote at their assigned polling places (which, if you have a campus address, may be the Garrison Room in the Memorial Union). If you are registered elsewhere in Yolo County, and still wish to vote on campus, you should ask for a provisional ballot.

Unitrans Votes for Free Rides June 7, Nov. 8

Though he usually bikes around town, law student Lars Reed successfully petitioned Unitrans to waive its fares on two election days: the June 7 primary and the Nov. 8 general. Rides will be free all day, both days, on the campus-city bus system.
